All theories and information about the Scub Coral being a sentient being are kept from the general population. The theory that the Scub Coral is an intelligent life form was proposed by the scientist Adroc Thurston, who also claimed the Scub is looking for mutual co-existence with humanity. The Scub Coral inhabited the Planet until the return of humans. In the current timeline, the remnants of humanity are now settled on an unknown planet (actually a terraformed Earth) known as the Land of Kanan, but the majority of the surface of this planet is now covered by a rock-like surface formed by the Scub Coral. Overview SettingĮureka Seven takes place in the year 12005 and it has been 10,000 years after humanity has made a mass exodus into space, due to the arrival of the Scub Coral ( スカブ・コーラル, Sukabu Kōraru), an intelligent, sentient life who merged with the planet, forcing the humans to abandon it. Eureka Seven was well received by critics and earned several awards at numerous award shows in Japan, most notably the 2006 Tokyo International Anime Fair.

"Symphonic Psalms Eureka Seven"), is a 2005 Japanese anime series created by Bones. Same discs, new paper insert in the case.Eureka Seven, known in Japan as Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN ( Japanese: 交響詩篇エウレカセブン, Hepburn: Kōkyōshihen Eureka Sebun, lit. Funimation isn't gonna pay money to re-author the discs if they don't have to (unless like, there was a recall or something). But I guess they realized that nobody cared if latecomers got a discount, so they toned it down when they made the "Essentials" line. If you cared about packaging, then you should have paid more and got the original release.
Funimation had previously said that the obnoxiousness is the price you have to pay for getting cheap/late anime, so as not to piss off the early adopters who paid more. But most people seem to agree that the packaging is obnoxious. It's intended to draw attention to the fact that the reprint is cheaper than the original release. "S.A.V.E." (or "Super Amazing Value Edition") was the reprint line that Funimation was doing for a while before the "Essentials" line. It's supposed to imply that the show was good/popular, so you should buy it if you haven't already. "Essentials" is just a reprint line that Funimation is doing lately.
